SEACA Newsletter – January/February 2021

Dear Southeast Chapter Members,

Happy New Year. Hopefully you had a blessed Christmas and 2021 will be a healthy and happy year for all.

The Regional rally will be underway by the time you receive this newsletter. We have just over 30 coaches registered. This is down from last year (51 last year) and a dramatic decrease from previous years. It might be time to consider hosting our Regional rally at another location. Please let the Board know what your thoughts are on this issue.

This year’s Regional rally combines LazyDays and the Supershow into one large rally. The LazyDays aspect will be held indoors with catered meals. The Supershow portion will be held outdoors with “catered” meals by our personal barbeque wizard Rodney Renner and Keith Landers. Thank you to Keith Landers for being rally host for the Regional rally. This one was a little more complicated because of the two separate locations, so know that we really appreciate your efforts Keith. Also, a special thank you to Rodney for his days of Bar-B-Qing.

Additionally, at the LazyDays portion of the rally, Southeast will hold its annual meeting. The Board of Directors are up for reelection. Your existing officers are:

  • President: Dorothy Strunk
  • Vice President: Ray Shea
  • Treasurer: Keith Landers
  • Secretary: Pat Lokar
  • Membership: Wayne and Carol Beyer
  • WebMaster:Keith Landers

The 2021 through 2022 slate of officers are:

  • President: Vacant
  • Vice President: Vacant
  • Treasurer: Keith Landers
  • Secretary: Pat Lokar
  • Membership: Wayne and Carol Beyer
  • Webmaster: Keith Landers

Terry Moorefield and Grover “Buck” Felch have agreed to have their names placed in nomination for the positions of President and Vice President, respectively, from the floor. Our nominating committee (i.e., Jim Graham) did an outstanding job in recruiting from within our membership. There are one or two other administrative items the Chapter will need to deal with so please be sure to attend this aspect of the rally. The meeting is scheduled for Sunday at 9 a.m.

The Southeast Chapter will celebrate Disneyworld’s 50th Anniversary at Fort Wilderness Resort January 31 through February 15, 2021 (choose from any or all of these dates). The rally is scheduled during the week as the parks are less crowded those days. Twenty sites are reserved, so plan early. Vince and Tracey Lamonica have graciously agreed to use their site as the gathering spot for the morning and afternoon social hours. Reservations may be made by calling Hilda Neal (302-598-8892) or emailing at camelot822@aol.com and be sure to tell her you are with the Southeast Chapter of ACA.

Our Spring rally will be held at Florida Grande RV Resort in Webster, FL. Our 2019 rally at Florida Grande was a sell-out event. Please be sure to mark your calendars for April 9 through 13, 2021. Rally hosts, Terry and Belinda Moorefield and Sandy and Peter Gallup are already hard at work planning this event.
Live entertainment, home cooked food, flea market, canal cruise and much more is part of this fun event. Don’t wait to register, remember it is was SOLD OUT in 2019.

This is my last Southeast newsletter as the President of the great Southeast Chapter. There have been some challenges over the last two years, but know that it has been a tremendous honor and pleasure for me to serve as the President. In my opinion, the Southeast Chapter’s membership is the most generous and friendly of all the Chapters. It is no wonder we have been able to maintain the largest number of members even with the decline in overall membership, the members truly make an organization. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for all the courtesies you have extended to Michael and me. We look forward to seeing you at other rallies in the future.

Best wishes to the new President and Vice President and to all the Southeast Chapter members.

Please continue to keep Ray and Pauline Shea in your prayers. They both appreciate your card, thoughts and prayers.

Stay healthy and safe travels,

Dorothy Strunk
President
