Southeast President Letter

Hello Southeast!

Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to all those affected by the recent hurricanes.  We have had a terrible few months in the Southeast area and I am very thankful for the people that showed concern for our location and well-being!  During Irma we were pleased to have full timers Bruce & Bobbi Marschall parked in our Mississippi driveway.  Because of Irma we delayed our return to Florida by a couple of weeks, staying in Mississippi till late September. On our return to central Florida we visited a couple of our future Southeast rally locations.

We were saddened by the terrible destruction in the Keys, and specifically the location that we have had our ACA rallies for several years.  A lot of thought went into the decision to cancel the November 2017 rally but, I am certain the right decision was made.  We are thankful that the Northeast Chapter president, Claudia Rutherford has already taken steps for a regional rally on Sunshine Key in November 2018.  Thank you Claudia!  I am sure that there are a lot of ACA folks already looking forward to a return to the Keys in 2018!

The site of our popular Christmas rally, the Sun N Fun resort in Sarasota did not receive any significant damage from Irma and our hosts Terry & Belinda Moorefield, Wendy Gaynor and Dave & Ann Laudick, along with Grover & Mary Ann Felch are making plans for this rally.  I am positive this will be a wonderful time, registration details available at www.myamericancoach.com

Registrations for the Seventh Annual Eastern Regional Rally at Lazydays in January 2018 continues to be ahead of where we were last year.  There are sites available, get your registrations in!  Registration is even easier for 2018 as it can be done on line at www.southeastaca.net and there is no immediate cost.  This rally includes four nights at the Lazydays RV campground, catered meals and entertainment.

Southeast will attend the 2018 Florida RV Supershow as a group immediately following the regional rally at Lazydays.  We will park together, have daily social hours and take advantage of all the Supershow has to offer, including show coaches, seminars, vendors, and entertainment!   Registration must be made through the Florida Recreational Vehicle Association (FRVTA).  Information may be found on their web page  http://www.frvta.org/show/florida-rv-supershow/ .  Important update:  This rally is going to sell out soon!  As of late September there are less than half of the sites remaining!  Southeast has already matched our number of registrants for 2017!  Register now!  When you register, please tell them you are with SEACA.

New to our rally schedule is an opportunity to visit Disney in February 2018 with our “Southeast adventure at Fort Wilderness”.   We visited Fort Wilderness in late September and were amazed at how well the post hurricane clean up went!   This rally is something that has been discussed for several years and Windsor and Pamela Anderson have stepped forward to make this event happen.  There are thirty sites reserved, and the details on how to register are available in this magazine and on the southeast and ACA web sites.  Windsor and Pamela are already working on a list of fun things to do that will not require a park ticket.   Fort Wilderness is expensive, but during the time of our adventure will be the lowest cost of the year.

We recently visited Compass RV Park, (www.compassrvpark.com) the site of our April 2018 rally and we are impressed!    The campground owners are in the process of adding sites, a pool and upgraded cable. This is a “destination” rally held at a highly rated RV Park, the closest campground to downtown St. Augustine.    The Old Town Trolley provides transportation to and from the campground.  Registration are and extra days are available at www.southeastaca.net

Our webmaster, Keith Landers continues to keep us up to date on the Southeast web site (www.southeastaca.net) and our Southeast Facebook page aca) (www.facebook.com/Southeastaca)   Almost all of our rally registrations and membership transactions are now completed from the southeast web site.

Welcome to Southeast’s newest members!  Robert & Donna Andrews, Grant, FL, Alfred Cook, Tampa, FL, Ed & Barb Gilman, St. Mary’s GA, Eddy & Diane Guary, Coral Springs, FL, and Barbara Jackson, Plant City, FL.

Ray and I feel very fortunate to be a part of this chapter and we hope to see you soon!
