Southeast President Letter

Hello Southeast!

Here are our highlights!

  • Dorothy Strunk is Southeast’s new Vice President
  • The registration for the 2019 Regional Rally is available! Register early, we only have sixty sites!
  • You can now register for the 2019 “Return to the Wilderness” at Disney’s Fort Wilderness.
  • Southeast has gained fifteen new memberships from five different states since our last newsletter!
  • Dorothy Strunk has stepped up to serve as Southeast’s Vice President. Dorothy and her husband Michael have been active in our chapter for several years and they will have a positive impact for years to come!

The complete minutes from our annual meeting are posted on our web site (www.southeastaca.net). Our membership and treasurer reports are included.

The Southeast Chapter had a very busy winter with four events in just three months! We are currently working on our rally schedule for 2019, adjustments have been made and we welcome hearing from you! We will be working on 2019’s Spring Rally shortly!

I would like to thank everyone that contributed to our recent rallies! It’s wonderful to be a part of a chapter that can have four successful and completely different events in such a brief time. We went from an award winning mega campground (Sun N Fun) to the highly rated Lazydays RV Resort, to the Florida State Fairgrounds (attending the Supershow) to Disneyworld’s Fort Wilderness. The only thing in common is our great social hours!

Our next event is our Spring Rally at St. Augustine. This rally sold out in January with over thirty coaches registered. This is a new location for Southeast and we are looking forward to a “destination” rally held at a highly rated RV Park, the closest campground to downtown St. Augustine.

There are well over twenty Southeast coaches registered for the ACA National Rally at Spearfish, South Dakota, this rally also sold out in January, but there is a stand by list. Southeast will have a three-day pre-rally at the same location as the National Rally.

We have a new rally scheduled in October at Gulf Waters RV Park, in Fort Myers Beach, FL. This is the highest rated premier RV Park in the area and we are looking forward to a new adventure! Agenda and Registration are available at our web site.

It is disappointing that the November Keys rally had to be cancelled for 2018. There are uncertainties as to the facilities and increased costs that made this rally impossible for successful planning. I hope that a Keys rally will be possible in the future!

Southeast will have our annual Christmas Rally at Sun-N-Fun in Sarasota. The Sun-N-Fun RV Resort is a luxury resort that is widely recognized as one of the premier RV resorts in the world. A multiple Mega Park of the Year Award Winning Resort.

Our rally coordinator, Doug Thompson has been hard at work with Lazydays for our 8th Annual Regional Rally. This rally will be different in 2019, the rally is being down sized, shortened and becoming more affordable. Based on comments we have received opening night will be more socially oriented (background music only). The rally will be shortened to three nights with meals each night. There will be entertainment on two nights. Registration is available on line. Please note that we only have sixty sites. Registration requires no up-front payment. Register early!

We are going back to the Florida RV Supershow in January 2019. There were 40 SEACA coaches in attendance in January 2018 and it was a lot of fun despite the unseasonable cold. Everyone seemed just fine on the 30A power. New to 2019, there is an agenda posted on www.myamericancoach.com and www.southeastaca.net.

Our “Adventure at Fort Wilderness” at Disneyworld in early February 2018 had twenty-three coaches in attendance. The feedback was very positive, and we have already planned a “Return to the Wilderness” in February 2019.

Information, agendas and registration for our rallies is always available at www.myamericancoach.com and www.southeastaca.net.

Do you know that Keith Landers (our webmaster) also manages the web site www.mhrig.com? Keith has gathered a tremendous amount of information on the big rig recreational vehicle life style and technical information that we have found very useful on several occasions. There is too much for me to even scratch the surface here! I recommend you take a look!
